John Pilla has worked extensively in the health and human services sectors for over 30 years. His roles include program performance manager, information systems manager and executive level responsibility for service performance monitoring, and evaluation and financial policy.

John has had employment with multiple state health departments, in Commonwealth health and in international and Australian consultancy firms. He has had strategic secondments to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and to the Commonwealth Department of Health. John’s principal areas of expertise include health evaluation, funding policy, performance measurement, benchmarking and health informatics.

John has contributed extensively to public hospital funding policy and funding models through his work on the development of the Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Group classification, review of primary care funding policies and models, review of national public hospital reform programs and his evaluation of several national reform programs in aged care, primary health care and Indigenous health.
