Dr Karolina Kalanj is a health systems educator and consultant with a specialty in diagnosis related groups (DRG) development. She has consulted widely in the areas of health system reform and has extensive experience in: DRG system implementation, health information systems, designing and implementing health financing reforms, provider payment and contracting, clinical governance and use of practice guidelines and pathways, and quality of care.

Dr Kalanj has worked with national health sector institutions such as ministries of health, health insurance funds and institutes of public health in the regional implementation of DRGs and classification systems. Her extensive consulting experience includes projects in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Philippines and Uzbekistan.
