Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM was in medical school when a car accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. He graduated as the first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland.

Dinesh is now a doctor in the emergency department of Gold Coast University Hospital. He is also a lawyer, a research fellow and was Queensland Australian of the Year in 2021, along with being a prominent disability advocate and senior advisor to the Disability Royal Commission.
